This is an almost 40 years belated recall of Northwest Expedition’s exploratory trip on the Coppermine in July of 1975.
A LITTLE HISTORY
Late in 1972 five of us who had canoed and kayaked together decided to try to start a rafting company, and by early 1973 Northwest Expeditions was formed
One of the best parts of starting North-West Expeditions has been to hear these old stories from Dad. We hope you enjoy them too.
Dad, an old friend and a Czech riverman (who was apparently a prince of the Austro-Hungarian empire) founded the company in 1973. It all started with an incredible trip down the Nahanni River.
Here’s the story of the maps of Valerie, Cave 16.
The guy we talked to was one of the two discoverers of Valerie (Valerie was the name of one of the guys’ girlfriend). They discovered the cave in 1971.
